My ultimate goal is to normalize conversations about cancer and diminish the fear surrounding it. When I first learned I would undergo treatment at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, I chose to view it as my «temple of healing.» This mindset turned my experience into a positive one, allowing me to embrace my diagnosis as a chance to prove my resilience. Early detection is vital; many cancers are treatable or even curable when caught early. So, why not be proactive and listen to your body?

I’m thrilled that Ron created this unique sneaker to honor The Walk and the «Carry the Fire» campaign. While fashion can often seem superficial, in this case, it symbolizes how we navigate the world. Every step in these sneakers brings us closer to a future where cancer doesn’t instill fear.

Words can hardly express my gratitude for the incredible doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Princess Margaret. They transformed my treatment experience into something extraordinary. Participating in this Walk allows me to give back to a community that has given me so much, and I feel proud to support their groundbreaking research.
The Importance of Early Screening
October 2024 saw a shift in breast cancer screening guidelines, lowering the starting age from 50 to 40. How do you perceive the significance of early screening and awareness?
Early screening is crucial, especially for those of us with dense breast tissue. As I mentioned, early detection saves lives. If breast cancer is caught early, it’s often treatable and can be curable. Who wouldn’t want to take part in that?
Advancing Cancer Research
Researchers at The Princess Margaret are developing a blood test that could detect cancer at stage 0. How does it feel to know that the funds raised through the Walk are supporting such life-saving innovations?
It’s exhilarating to be part of this Walk! The progress we’ve made in the fight against cancer is remarkable, and knowing that our community’s support can drive even more advancements is incredibly inspiring.
A New Perspective on Style and Confidence
Your career has centered on style and confidence. Has your experience with breast cancer altered your approach to personal style and beauty?
Absolutely! My journey has instilled a deeper sense of confidence and gratitude in me. Losing my hair and other features during treatment was humbling, reminding me to not take myself too seriously. Confidence and great style go hand in hand, and I embrace each day with that mindset.
